History

Eight years of building.

Roseland Heights went up quickly: every house on record here was built between 1955 and 1962, nearly nine of every ten of them in the 1950s, as the town grew from 2,299 people in 1940 to 3,653 in 1960.

The South Franklin Street Historic District, with houses from the mid-1800s to the 1930s, is about four-tenths of a mile northeast, and the courthouse square about half a mile north. In 1957 Kroger built a free-standing supermarket with a large parking lot at 112 West Main Street.
