History
From fairways to front yards.
For more than sixty years this land was a golf course. The Meadows Golf and Swim Club, one of the oldest courses in the New River Valley, had charter members who bought stock in it by 1954. In 2002, after hard times, its shareholders voted to sell it to a private owner.
In 2017 the 117-acre property was put up for auction, split into nine lots that could be bid on separately or together, and that September a real estate company bought the course, then just outside the town limits. A boundary adjustment brought the land into the town, and in September 2019 the Town Council rezoned 125.652 acres, the golf course and a neighboring property, for at most 51 single-family houses.

The subdivision was platted as The Reserve at Round Meadows. The Town approved its development permit in 2019 on the condition that the streets be built 30 feet wide, approved a plat of 51 lots and common area in April 2021, and set aside an easement for a trail in 2022. Its houses, built by Eagle Construction and sold as The Meadows, have gone up since 2022 along Round Meadow Drive.
