History

A 1950s neighborhood by the square.

Beverly Hills is one of the neighborhoods that grew with the town after World War II. Three of every four of its houses on record were built in the 1950s, when Christiansburg grew from 2,299 people in 1940 to 3,653 in 1960. The town’s Circle Park is on Ellett Drive, one of its two streets.

It is close to the town’s oldest streets. The South Franklin Street Historic District, a row of houses from the mid-1800s to the 1930s on the road the first town plan laid out, is about a quarter mile northwest, and the courthouse square about four-tenths of a mile.

In 2007 the Town Council took up a plan to redivide three of its lots on Circle Drive into nine lots for townhomes.
