History
London names, pocket parks.
Kensington’s land was rezoned in 2006 by Montgomery County, while it was still outside the town; it is now inside the town limits, zoned for mixed use with conditions. The Town’s minutes name its developer as F&B Land, LP.
Water mains for its first two phases were laid in the town’s 2008 to 2009 fiscal year, and homes have gone up phase by phase since. When the Town Council took up a change to the original conditions in 2019, the developer described pocket parks under construction in the first phase and a system of trails. Plans for trails and a pavilion were filed with the Town in 2021, and for a trail extension along Buffalo Drive in 2023.

Several of its streets share their names with places in London: Aldwych, Bishops Gate and Chelsea, along with Kensington itself.
The town’s Harkrader Sports Complex, about a quarter mile east, opened in 2006 behind the middle school and came inside the town limits with a boundary adjustment in 2009, by the Town’s account; it hosted the Dixie Boys World Series in 2010 and 2012.
