History

Beside Huckleberry Park.

Peppers Crossing is a small neighborhood of houses, most of them built in the 2000s, off Peppers Ferry Road. The road, Route 114, takes its name from a ferry crossing Samuel Pepper set up in the 1770s.

The land next door was farmland until recently. In 2013 the Town paid $2.5 million for 63 acres of farmland off Peppers Ferry Road, broke ground on a park there in 2021, and opened it in 2023 as Christiansburg Huckleberry Park, with turf fields, a splash pad, a playground and dog parks. The park is about a fifth of a mile southeast. The Huckleberry Trail runs close by as well: in 2010 the Town extended it from behind the mall to the north side of Route 114.
