History
A storybook name.
In 1988 a company called Sleepy Hollow, Inc. platted a major subdivision in the Windmill Hills area. Not all of it was built: in 2007 the Town vacated part of Providence Boulevard, one of the streets on the plat that had never been opened. Its houses on record date from 1985 to 2007.
Its two main streets, Sleepy Hollow Road and Tarrytown Road, share their names with the setting of Washington Irving’s story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, published in 1820, which takes place in a secluded valley near Tarrytown, New York. In 2012 the Town added stop signs on Sleepy Hollow Road to slow traffic.
