History

Founders’ streets near Peppers Ferry.

Clifton was built on farmland near Peppers Ferry Road. In 2014 the Town took up a request by its builder, Stateson Homes, to rezone 35.4 acres there from agricultural to single-family residential, and the Town Council approved single-family lots.

The plan changed in 2017, when townhomes were added. A divided Town Council approved the revised project, about 40 single-family houses and about 82 townhomes along Quin Stuart Boulevard, with the mayor breaking the tie. The first homes on record here were built in 2019.

Its streets, Hamilton Avenue, Jefferson Circle and John Adams Drive, share their names with founders of the United States.
