History
At the end of Park Street.
Lester Place is a small community of townhomes, most of them built in the late 1970s, on a narrow street the Town owns and maintains. It is near the East Main Street Historic District, which runs along East Main Street and down Park Street as far as Lester Street.
The district is the town’s old residential quarter, on the hill northeast of the square along the original road to Salem. Its houses include the Barnett-Montague House, part of it log from the early 1800s or before, and The Oaks, a Queen Anne house of 1893 with a corner tower and a wraparound porch, about a quarter mile west of Lester Place. Park Street’s houses include center-passage and T-plan houses and Craftsman houses of the 1920s.
