History

Gems, and a restored stream.

Diamond Hill is recorded by the county as Edgemont of Diamond Hill. Town water mains were laid for it in the town’s 2002 to 2003 fiscal year, and its houses on record have gone up from 1996 into this decade, most of them in the 2000s. Its streets and its neighbors’ keep to a theme of gems: Sapphire Avenue here, and Diamond Hill South and Diamond Pointe nearby.

Independence Boulevard runs through it, and below the boulevard is Diamond Hills Park, the Town’s first stream restoration. In 2009 the Town began a program to repair its damaged streams, and it chose the Diamond Hills creek as the pilot. The project rebuilt about 2,233 feet of stream that drains to Crab Creek, using natural channel design and extensive planting, and set the stream and its wooded banks aside as green space for good. By 2019 the stream was stable, with a mowed path leading to its wetlands and meadow.
