History

Next to the pool.

Echo Hills is a neighborhood of houses built in the 1960s and 1970s, most of them in the 1970s.

Its neighbor to the east, about a fifth of a mile away, is the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The town opened it in July 2010: a $19 million, 64,000-square-foot building whose 50-meter competition pool was added to meet Virginia Tech’s needs, with the university paying the added $2 million.

About four-tenths of a mile east, on High Street at the crest of Zion Hill, stands the Surface House, a one-story cottage of about 1870 that is on the National Register, and the Cambria Historic District is about two-thirds of a mile northeast.
