Christiansburg Comprehensive Plan update
The Town is replacing its 2013 Comprehensive Plan with a new plan that has nine elements: Government, Environment, Economic Development, Recreation and Destination, Infrastructure, Transportation, Public Safety, Housing, and Future Land Use, including a new Future Land Use Map. Town Council held the public hearing on October 6, 2026. The Planning Commission's September 28, 2026 agenda lists Council action for October 27, 2026.

The project
The details.
The New River Valley Regional Commission is running the project; drafts, the current Future Land Use Map and a proposed Future Land Use Map are posted on its EngageNRV page, which lists Phase 4 (draft plan and adoption) as active. The Future Land Use Map guides how the Town reviews rezonings and conditional use permits: every 2025 and 2026 land use agenda item cites the property's designation on the 2013 map. The 2013 plan was adopted unanimously on November 19, 2013 and amended on November 22, 2016 to add four Urban Development Areas.
